Achievement Unlocked: SRGE 2011!

Thank you to everyone who attended Seattle Retro Gaming Expo 2011.  We had a successful first show, selling out of tickets halfway through the second day!  We hope that everyone enjoyed the show floor as well as the many events put together by Pink Gorilla and our other sponsors.

For those who attended out offsite events like the after party, charity auction, and Battletech Royale with Cheese, you can look forward to more SRGE events like these throughout the year.  We will be announcing our next event soon on this website and on our twitter/facebook accounts, so stay tuned for more details.

We also want to thank everyone who donated to Northwest Harvest and at the charity auction on Saturday night.  Together we raised over $3000 for the families being helped by Northwest Harvest!  Matthew and Todd from NWH are thrilled by the generosity of our attendees, and we thank Nolan for his generous contributions that made the auction possible.

Many thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and staff who helped to make SRGE 2011 a success! We're looking forward to SRGE 2012!

SRGE Announces the Battletech Royale... With Cheese!

Laughs-PaulM.pngSRGE is proud to announce Battletech Royale... With Cheese!  As our final event for SRGE, after the doors close at the Hotel Deca, we invite everyone to join us in Kirkland at Laugh's Comedy Club for an evening of geek comedy.  In addition, The Airlock, a location-based entertainment venue right next door, will be hosting games for SRGE attendees all night long!

The Laughs comedy night is $10 per person, and is hosted by Paul Mestemaker, and features Brian Boshes and Mike Drucker!  Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30, giving everyone plenty of time to head over from the University district!

In partnership with SRGE and Laughs, folks who attended the night of pixellated comedy will get their first game free at The Airlock just for showing them your handstamp!  For every additional $10 (+tax) you spend on games thereafter, you will recieve another free game.

Join us on Sunday May 29th for the Battletech Royale... With Cheese!

Pre-purchase tickets for the comedy show here for only $10, and remember that also nets you a free game at The Airlock!

SRGE Charity Auction: All the Details You Need!

The Seattle Retro Gaming Expo Charity Auction will take place at Pink Gorilla's University District store (just steps from the Hotel Deca) on Saturday May 28 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  The highlight of the auction is Nolan O'Brien's console collection, the proceeds of which will go to Northwest Harvest.  We'll also be sharing more about Nolan's story and his reasons for donating such an amazing collection soon.

We will also have space for attendees to bring their own items for the auction.  If you bring an item to be auctioned off, you will keep the money from the winning bid, but there will be a small processing fee which will go to Northwest Harvest.

Share your items with us by email, facebook, or twitter, and we'll add your item to the complete list for everyone to drool over!

After the jump you will see just a small sample of some of the amazing items we'll have at the auction!

Please note that even more pictures of the REALLY rare stuff are available at our Facebook Page!

Battle For Seattle Update!

Since SRGE has announced the Battle For Seattle, our tournament director Julian has been besieged by requests for more details! We know that the tournament community is alive and well, but as part of our mission, we want to make sure that people who have never been in a tournament before can come in with some of the basic rules and structure in mind, so Julian put together basic primer to answer your questions.  As always if you have more questions, hit us up on our twitter or facebook feeds!

After the jump, we've post the basic tournament guide.  We also recommend you check out the main tournaments link at the top of this page, which has also been updated with the times for each tournament (you can also find a link to this guide)

Sakura-Con Day 2: Contests!

Saturday came and went at the Washington State Convention Center, and SRGE was there for it all!  Our booth team handed out hundreds of flyers, and pre-registration is doing well.

Speaking of pre-registration, we at SRGE are announcing that our Events Sponsor, Pink Gorilla (www.pinkgorillagames.com) is giving away a Nintendo 3DS!  All you have to do to enter is pre-register for the Seattle Retro Gaming Expo!

Now is also a good time to mention that you can purchase Pre-Sales tickets at our retail partner locations.  There are six locations all over the Puget Sound to buy tickets at, and purchasing your Pre-Sales ticket with cash is the same as pre-registering online.  That means that buying your Pre-Sales ticket at Pink Gorilla (or Play 'N Trade, or Another Castle, or Dpad Games), you will still have early access to the Vendor hall on Saturday and Sunday, AND you will be entered into the pre-registration contest to win a Nintendo 3DS!

Be sure to stop by the booth if you are at Sakura-Con, or check out our Retro Room in the Gaming section, where we have over 350 games to play!

Sakura-Con Day 1: Freeplay!

Seattle Retro Gaming Expo is invading Sakura-Con 2011!  Our group of classic gamers is manning booth #146, and we are also presenting SC's classic conosle freeplay room!  This year's booth is featuring members of the SRGE staff ready to answer your questions and hand you one of our cool flyers.

In addition to manning the booth, SRGE's own classic console coordinators, Emilio, is running the classc console freeplay this year!  Be sure to stop by room 401 in the gaming area to get a small taste of the freeplay room at SRGE.  Sakura-Con's classic console is great, with over 325 games to play, and we're very proud of what we've got going in there.  But the Freeplay room at SRGE will feature over 700 NES games alone!  With every NES game ever released in the US (not to mention some games that were never officially released in the US!), SRGE Console freeplay stands to be one of the best ever!

Please stop by and say hi at either location, Booth 146 in the Exhibits hall, or room 401, Classic Console Freeplay, in the Gaming area of Sakura-Con 2011!

Cowlitz Gamers for Kids Expo is this weekend!

It's finally time for the northwest's first retro gaming expo of the year as Kelso hosts the 2nd annual Cowlitz Gamers for Kids convention! Organized by PRGE's John H., this expo will feature many of the same vendors from both the Portland and Seattle retro gaming expos.

There be great deals on hundreds of classic video games, consoles and accessories, as well as console freeplay and some fun tournaments. There will even be appearances by two of the finalists from the 1990 Nintendo World Championships, Thor Aackerlund and Robin Mihara.

But the best part about the Cowlitz expo is that by attending, you will be helping out a great charity! For the second straight year, 100% of admission proceeds will go to the Children's Justice and Advocacy Center, which helps abused children in Cowlitz county.

Enjoy an exciting day with your fellow classic gamers, and help out a good cause. Come down to Kelso this Saturday, April 9th, for the Cowlitz Gamers for Kids Expo! Visit retrogamingexpo.com for more details.
